MORE May Birthdays

Apparently, May is the popular month to have a birthday for both the Durrant and Leavitt families. Over the past few days, both families celebrated two more birthdays, my dad's (May 27th) and Nick's (May 28th). Wanted to wish both of them a HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Yay for being born and Love ya both!!!!

Graduation: Master of Occupational Therapy

May 3, 2013, I finally received my master's degree in occupational therapy. What a relief that it is done! Thanks to friends and family who provided me with love and support along the way. Thanks for putting up with me and my cadaver stories, allowing me to test your reflexes, letting me interview you for projects and papers, practicing transfers, quizzing me before tests, and so much more.

As of now, I study! I know, sad and depressing. But I have ONE more exam and it's a big one. It will be the National Board Certification for Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). I plan to take it around end of May or beginning of June, depending on paperwork processing.  When I pass, I will be an official occupational therapist and ready to take on work field. So cross your fingers for me!

Graduation Festivities: Pinning Ceremony

Well I have finally reached the end of my academic career....sheesh....THANK GOODNESS, for it's been a long journey. EIGHT years to be exact. I just received my master's degree in occupational therapy (official title: Master of Occupational Therapy.... for those who were wondering because I did when trying to type up my resume). But this last week, my occupational therapy class of 2013 had its pinning ceremony to start off the graduation week. My OT class always like to go full out and to end semesters with a bang .....go big or go home....I say. For the pinning ceremony (a traditional ceremony for many health professional classes), we had a dinner up in the scholarship room which is located in the U of U stadium, near the VIP seating boxes. With the dinner location, we had quite the view of the entire football stadium and Salt Lake City...it was fantastic! In addition to dinner, one of our favorite professors gave an inspiring speech, each student was recognized with a certificate and pin of achievement, watched a photo montage, and partied the night away. For entertainment, a local band performed (the drummer's daughter is a classmate of mine) and they performed cover songs from Boston to Journey to Styx, etc. The husband and I got a kick out of how much our parents enjoyed the bands' performance and Nick's dad even made multiple requests to the lead singer (too funny)! Though, I think the highlight of the night was to watch some of our professors let loose, rock out, head bang, and dance on the dance floor........so awesome!!!!!

Stay tuned for more graduation pictures!
